Marja Kolodziejczyk (Kowalik), age 91, passed away on January 31, 2017 in New Britain, Connecticut. She was widow of Jan Kolodziejczyk since 1987. She was also predeceased by her youngest son, George.

Marja was born in Jozefowek, Poland to the late Jakub and Agnieszka Kowalik. Mrs. Kolokziejczyk was employed by the Emhart Corporation. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church.

Marja survived the invasion of Poland in World War II and years of forced labor in Germany. After the war, she made the best she could of life in a refugee camp...

Marja was born in Jozefowek, Poland to the late Jakub and Agnieszka Kowalik. Mrs. Kolokziejczyk was employed by the Emhart Corporation. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church.

Marja survived the invasion of Poland in World War II and years of forced labor in Germany. After the war, she made the best she could of life in a refugee camp and eventual resettlement in Belgium. She had the courage to move from Belgium to the US, so her children could have more opportunities. She is survived by her son John and his wife Cynthia of Delmar, New York; her grandson Benjamin, his wife Kara and their sons John and Declan (great-grandchildren) of Herndon, Virginia; and her granddaughter Margaret with her husband Giancarlo of Washington, DC.

She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Lynn Kolodziejczyk, grandson Thomas and grandson Jacob and his wife Sara, all of Cheshire, Massachusetts, sister-in-law Bronislawa Kowalik, her son Joseph and his three daughters. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Mercy Corps or the International Rescue Committee.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 8:30am at New Britain Memorial-Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in Sacred Heart Church, Broad St. New Britain.
