Florence (Slomski) Janeczko, 84, widow of Casimir Janeczko, of Farmington, passed away peacefully Nov. 30, 2016. She was born in New Britain Sept. 16, 1932, daughter of the late Edmund and Stella (Baranowski) Slomski. A lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church, she graduated Sacred Heart School and Mary Immaculate Academy.

Florence worked in administration at New Britain General Hospital until the arrival of her daughter Sandra in 1960 and son Ronald later completed the family. She was a generous hostess of countless holiday celebrations and welcomed her dear brother Fr. Joe for his annual visit "home" for 60 years until his passing. She dearly loved the home she and Casimir designed and built in the 1950's. Flo deeply appreciated the concern and genuine friendship of her neighbors, welcoming the kindness and generosity of a helping hand, fresh fruit and vegetables, flowers and cards.

As the family historian, she told many vibrant stories of the "old days" and new stories were created at every gathering of family and friends. She often said how she should write a book and the first chapter would start with "It was a dark and stormy night".

In her golden years she cherished time with family and friends in Noank, CT - Yes Laura, the Ocean is still there! She loved sitting in her chair looking out at the beautiful and ever-changing waterfront.

She instilled in everyone that met her a strong work ethic and determination. She overcame cancer and severe heart disease through sheer will and with the dedicated care of Drs. Hoffman and Borkowski. She retained her independence thanks to the gentle and compassionate care of her special helper Jessica.

She passed away peacefully after a brief illness, satisfied of her accomplishments and acutely aware of those she loved.

Florence is survived by: her daughter, Sandra Liebman-Watt of Cape Coral, FL, her son, Ronald Janeczko and daughter-in-law Tanya of Farmington, CT, her precious grandchildren; Jared and Andrew Liebman and Ted and Laura Janeczko, her nieces, extended family members, and especially her dear childhood friend Dottie Locke.

Florence is also predeceased by her siblings: Fr. Joseph Slomski of Wichita, KS and Henry Slomski of New Britain, CT, and a sister, Albina (Slomski) Matushak, Manchester, CT.

A time of visitation will be Friday, Dec. 2 from 6-8 pm and 8:30-9:30 am on Sat. Dec. 3, 2016 at New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain. Funeral Liturgy will commence at 10 am in Sacred Heart Church, 158 Broad Street, New Britain. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
