Bernard 'Bernie' Rupert Pajewski passed away on Monday, Nov. 28, 2016 at the age of 89. He was born in New Britain to the late Peter Joseph and Susan (Tadrzenski) Pajewski and was a lifelong resident. Bernie was a graduate of NBHS, class of 1945 as well as Wesleyan and Cornell Universities.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict where he felt the Blessed Mother and Holy Spirit of God had provided him with a special protection and inner peace. In fact, throughout his life he often told people that it was his belief that "a problem plus worry equals two problems".

Bernie will be remembered for his intelligence, humility, kindness and self-deprecating sense of humor as well as his deep pride in his Polish heritage.

Bernie was pre-deceased by his siblings: Richard Pajewski and Roberta Merrifield. He is survived and will be dearly missed by his nephews Chris and Peter Merrifield and his niece Elizabeth Filter, as well as his grand nieces and nephews who affectionately called him "Mickey Mouse".

A mass and celebration of Bernie's life will be held at St. Lucian's Residence on Thursday, January 12 at 9am. An interment with military honors will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. For directions or online messages or tributes, please visit www.newbritainsagarino.com.
